Mastitis during pregnancy??

Question

I’m 30 weeks with my third baby and I have all the signs of mastitis. Hard,red, painful on the outer side of my left breast. No fever or anything yet. Did you experience this and now did you manage it - without antibiotics because I don’t think I’m needing them yet.

You can get mastitis while pregnant. Definitely call your OB. In the mean time use warm compresses on your breast and massage them in the shower

I am not yet leaking so I don’t even know how you feel, but I heard putting a cabbage leaf really helps, or you can try getting on all fours and have someone “milk” you out. In that case, there’s usually a baby there to suck the milk out, and I heard other ppl using their husbands. If you’re a ftm mom though, I would consult your doctor before trying.

Sounds like it could be a blocked milk duct since you have no fever it may not have got that far yet. I’ve got a blocked one in each breast I don’t leak milk at all but you could try warm compress until you see your doctor

As long as you have milk starting to fill your breast’s you can get mastitis. It could be a clogged duct though. Put hot compresses over it and massage it up and out towards your nipple to free the clog. In addition, take a shower and let the water hit the affected area as well as massage it. If you develop any signs of fever, please go in. My gp has said that the worst fevers she sees is with mastitis (103 plus).
