Formal name for Teddy?

I’m absolutely obsessed with the name Theodore & the nickname Teddy. My husband vetoed Theodore & I’m so heartbroken. I still want to find a way to use Teddy as a nickname. Can anyone think of formal names to go with it? Someone told me Edward is a formal name for Teddy but that doesn’t make much sense to me & I don’t care for it

Teddy is usually short for Edward and occasionally Theodore. Seeing as you dislike one and your hubby dislikes the other I'm not sure.

You could do Graham and call him Teddy like Teddy Graham.... that’s what I call my nephew(Teddy) and his name is Graham! It’s so cute

My cousin is called Teddy by the family because he had a little teddy bear snow suit he wore his first winter. You can call him whatever you want as a nickname. 
Personally I’d just take Theodore off the board and see if there’s another name you can settle on and then see if Teddy still suits him as a nickname when he gets here.
