Spotting days before period,

My period is supposed to start in less than a week (4-6 days) and today I started spotting... it went from light faded pink to bright red to now dark red... is this normal? I did have sex more than once leading up to my expected period but we used a condom everytime and he didn’t ejaculate inside of me.
