Has anyone just done a court house wedding? Then had a reception somewhere else after??

Trying to decide. I’m not really worried about having a lot of people at a wedding, I’d prefer it to only be some family etc. I thought it’d be fun to get married at a courthouse then go have a fun reception afterwards. Thoughts??

I did! And I don’t regret it at all! My husband & I went to the courthouse that morning and then afterwards went to this really nice hotel in our town and had close family there for brunch and cake. It was perfect! I never wanted a big wedding & I was actually 20 something weeks pregnant at the time so I just was not in the mood for something big anyways. Then the next day we left for our honeymoon! I wouldn’t have changed a thing honestly. I’ll post some pics for you to see!

My mom got married a few days ago at the court house just like you she didn’t want anything big and expensive. She worn her wedding dress sign papers that were needed to be sign, took professional pictures etc and it was really nice later that day she had her reception.She rent out a small restaurant for the night for her family and friends. Everyone played music and eat and enjoyed themselves. In the end it was all fun, small and Inexpensive so I think a courthouse is better then a reception because a wedding cost a lot plus it’s not something really big🙀

I think it’s a perfectly valid option! I remember going to get our wedding license and being asked if we wanted to get married today or just get the license. We exchanged glances and were sorely tempted to just have the ceremony there and throw a party for our friends afterwards, but we’d planned the wedding already so we sighed and took just the license.
Our wedding was simple, inexpensive, and lovely. However you choose to marry, the important thing is the commitment, not the size of the party you throw. ❤️ Do what works best for you!

I didn’t but my best girlfriend did. I was sad I couldn’t be there for her ceremony as she just had family there but we still got to celebrate with her!

Court House ❤️ it was the best day ever and his family threw a HUGE party for us afterwards. We plan on renewing our vows when we reach our 5 year mark ❤️

We didn’t do a courthouse but we did an intimate ceremony on the beach then a year later a family wedding. It was perfect! We only had our close family then went to Applebee’s. It was perfect! Then our big family wedding with friends and family it was absolutely perfect!

I wouldn’t change it for the world!! I’m so happy we did it that way😊 We also made sure it was a Friday last year so it could fall on a Saturday this year so we only had one wedding date haha
