coconut oil on navel piercing?

i went to my piercer because my navel piercing was a little irritated and he told me to do chamomile tea soaks and put some coconut oil around the piercing (not directly on) has anyone else ever done this?

Never heard of a piercer recommending this. I’ve only ever heard of some people using a little tea tree oil . (Which I’ve never done )

Please don't do that. I always feel like coconut oil is a no no for fresh piercings and tattoos 
Here's the aftercare my shop has our clients follow:
CLEANSING TECHNIQUES:
NAVEL / NIPPLE / EAR LOBE / SEPTUM / NOSTRIL / BROW
Always wash your hands before handling your piercing.
Mix 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (not regular table salt) with 250 ml very warm water. Soak the piercing until the salt water has cooled down (about 10 mins). Do this twice a day until your piercing is healed. (Caution: Over heating water will cause burns).
Using Q-tips, gently clean any remaining lymph (crusties) away from the piercing.
Avoid moving the jewelry back and forth through the piercing – it does more harm than good.
It is always ok to gently clean the outside of a piercing with saline* and a clean Q-tip.
Do this when activity may cause the ring to turn (exercise, etc.) or when it feels “sticky” or uncomfortable.
*Use saline solution for contact lenses only. No other contact lens solution is recommended.

If you do put coconut oil on it put a very tiny amount. Like just enough to have where your skin will absorb it and the area won’t be greasy. Not globs of it. I’ve never heard a piercer recommend coconut oil and I personally wouldn’t because most piercers will tell you that oils and creams aren’t good to put on piercings because they can actually trap bacteria and cause infection and they clog the piercing and it won’t be able to breathe and heal properly
