What NOT to buy used?

I just joined a bunch of those Facebook pages that sell baby gear, toys, furniture, etc. & I was just wondering... What should you not buy used??? My husband wants to buy everything new, but I'm cheap and if things are in good condition, why not? But I also want to make smart decisions... Have at it ladies

Also thoroughly research the crib if you are buying that used. Many are outdated - and I don't mean in a fashion sense. I'm talking safety.

Don't buy a car seat used. They expire and are void after so many things. Even washing the straps. It comprises the integrity of the fabric on the straps and then can be weaker/snap during a car accident.

We''re getting new carsest even though we have two kids. The seats have changed so much in the last 7 years. And if we use a cot newer mattress (would use secondhand from someone I trusted). 
Things that go in the mouth, I think carefully about. I used second hand bottles but bought new teats for them.

Car seat and cot mattress are the only things that I was told. The safety regulations are updated so regularly that it's worth being in date (and you don't know if a car seat has been in an accident)

Don't buy a used car seat for sure. If you get used bottles definitely buy your own nipples! Pretty much everything else is fine used if you can wash it.

Car seat--can't use a car seat that was in an accident and is expired.
Breast pump, bottles--due to hygiene.

Crib--bed bugs??

Check the safety features and reviews on the products. Especially big items. I opted for a new crib and stroller/car seat combo because of safety standards.

I wouldn't buy a car seat used unless you know the person you are buying it from. Even washing the car seat the wrong way can affect its safety, and you have no idea unless you know them if it's been in an accident.
Other than that I'm all for used stuff, just really pay attention to its condition. Babies grow so fast and spend so little time with everything it seems crazy to spend all that money on new everything.

When I'm looking at used items the first thing I think about is how easily can I clean/sterilize it? I bought a Boon Flair high chair for a fraction on the cost new, also currently looking for a used bumbo. Both easy to wipe down with clorox. Pack and play is used from a family member, so I know it's clean. 
I would not buy a car seat used, simply because there's not a way to tell if it's been in an accident. Would probably avoid a used mattress, pillows, anything I couldn't properly clean myself.

I agree, car seats and matresses, buy new, all else if it cleans and washes, I'm good. I don't do matresses because of colon viruses and bugs, buy that new. Car seats just change requirements so often, its better to buy new. I'm even iffy on pack-n-plays, unless I know the moms and kids. I refuse to buy stuff out on lawns of 2nd hand stores, that aren't plastic, and can be bleached.
