Growing up, my family never had guest bedrooms. When people would visit, us kids would always just make beds in the livingroom for ourselves and let guests stay in our rooms. For big events like graduations my mom put up tents with air mattresses in the basement, and our guests could either stay in one of the tents or get a hotel. My family has always viewed guest bedrooms as an unnecessary hassle: another room to clean, more bedding to wash, more things to dust, and it would all be wasted effort for the majority of the year.

My question is, do you have a guest bedroom/do you think they're a necessary courtesy?
