My sister in law allows her children to play with toys that are bought to be gifts for other children. So if it's their nephew or nieces birthday and they buy a present their two children are allowed to use it until it is wrapped and given at a party. The last few gifts we have gotten from them have been obviously played with, scratched, bite marks, batteries have been run out, dented, ect. To be honest, my toddler is Mr. Destruction and will destroy the toys soon enough so it's not a huge deal, but is this a thing?! Anytime I buy a gift for someone else it is put away from the kids to avoid these types of things.
