Opening a Day Care

So my two best friends and I have all struggled with what to do with our lives. (One is 24, other is 20, and I'm 19). We spent several summers traveling across our state doing "Kids Krusades" with a few people from our church. It was pretty much a revival service for kids. We did this every summer for years.
We were talking about how much we loved working with the kids, and that it was fulfilling. Eventually the conversation led to us discussing opening a daycare.
Our town only has one daycare, which means parents send their kids there or to a home sitter. So, there's a need for another child care facility. We've all worked with children for years, everything from babysitting to being a children's pastor, a nanny, and I worked with children at a hospital for a while.
I told my mom that we were considering this, and asked for opinion. My mom laughed and said "think about it all you want, but it's not a good idea".
What do you guys think? I know there's a lot more than just say no "hey send me your kids!", such as state licensed and business plans, but I feel like we have experience with kids, we all enjoyed it, and there's a need for it.
