What does this mean to you?

“Never do we come so close to losing ourselves while trying to find ourselves.”

Answer

I love this phrasing. Always related so much to it.
For example, I found myself in medicine. Started to find myself while working for the endless admission tests and processes. I still do love the field I'm studying to be in, its amazing. 
But its so god damn tiring. I'm finding myself, yes, but also I'm losing a lot of myself in the process. I had to put a stop in lots of hobbies I had because I didn't have time or energy for them anymore. Sometimes I have problems to define to me who I am besides med school. My past relationship suffered with all the changes I had going on in my life. Things that used to define my personality and individualy are not here anymore. But still I'm here, just started to find myself. I'll have to find out who I am all over again, and I'm quite sure I will lose myself a few times more in the process.

Answer

For me personally, when trying to find myself, I took on about 100 responsibilities, like ruining student government, and doing research, and joining clubs and sports, all to try to figure out what I liked & what I didn’t like. 
But then, when I had all of these responsibilities, I lost track of that personal growth that I wanted and I just felt limited under the crushing weight of what I needed to do. I had a bunch of mental breakdowns, completely losing sight of what my goal was, and who I was.
So I guess the quote means to me that we can work so hard to try to discover what we want in life, but we might work to hard and then just be overwhelmed.  Hope this helps!
