IUD or no iud ?

I’m getting the copper iud soon and wanted to know everyone’s experiences .

I had a hormonal IUD, not a copper one, so I can't speak for side effects. But for the love of God, check your strings regularly! My strings vanished and it was a real (and very literal) pain to get it taken out. Not an experience I recommend if you can avoid it. 
The lack of effort required for it to do its job was excellent, though.
