Managers Rude Comment
I work in a restaurant. Today as I was doing my sidework to leave our District Manager came up and asked me what time I came in to work today. I told him 6am. He asked if I was tired and I said a little. He asked what time I go to bed to come in at that time. I told him he just depends on my daughter and how well she sleeps on different nights. He said “that baby ought to be sleeping through the night by now”. I laughed it off and said “well she’s only six months old so she’s not quite there yet”. Then he said “well that sounds like an indicator of your parenting skills to me”. I was literally so taken aback that I had nothing to say. I’m a first time mom and have had tons of people offer unsolicited advice or make comments, but that comment literally broke my heart. I cried the whole way home and then held my daughter while my boyfriend held me and cried some more. I never in my life thought I would have someone outright say I’m a bad mother, especially not someone at my job and over something so simple as my breastfed daughter waking up to eat in the night. I’m planning on getting a new job in January for a variety of reasons, but now I almost can’t wait.
In any case I guess I just needed to vent about the situation and see if anyone else has ever been through something similar.
