IUD!!!?!?!?!?!

Okay I need to know your experiences with the Mirena (hormonal) or the Paraguard (copper) bc i’m thinking ab getting one but i’m sure which. I’m afraid of it embedding inside me or expelling or puncturing my uterus. To how many people has this acc happened? I get like medium flow periods and my cramps are meh. Idk exactly how i react to hormones but ik my mom had an IUD when she was younger and she recently had cysts. Please let me know!!!

I have the Paraguard and I like it! I've had it for 7 months with no issues. I get my period every month and it's a tad bit heavier on the second and third day but nothing bothersome. I also don't have any cramps.

I had the Mirena put in after my son in ‘16. The IUD actually perforated my uterus and the ONLY reason why that happened was because she didn’t measure right and measured too far causing it to perforate my uterus. I was in a lot of pain during. Well when my daughter was born in June I decided to have the Mirena put in again. I had it put in in Sep 11 of this year and let me tell you I had a totally different experience. It didn’t hurt when he put it in and I’ve had no problems and I love it. I do still spot from time to time, but I think my periods are about to come to an end. Yay!

I have Mirena and it's awesome! I didn't want paraguard because who wants more bleeding and cramps? It can be crazy for the first few months, but it's so worth it

I spotted for months with mirena. But once it stopped, it worked great. Five years I had it in. The spotting was a huge nuisance and apparently just happens with some women. No other side effects for me.

I had the Mirena for 2.5 years and it was “okay”. I felt crazy/ crazy mood swings, gained weight and when had it taken out discovered it was put in wrong... too low and cut too short. So maybe that’s why I had a bad experience?? Either way, not having my period/lite spotting for the 2.5 years was amazing!

I had mirena and the hormones made me feel like I was losing my mind. I suffer from mental illness though so my doc suggested Paraguard. I liked that one except I had SUPER heavy periods. I had to switch to super tampons just to save my panties. But it worked for me for the last 6 years with no other side effects. I had it removed a little over a year ago and I can’t get pregnant to save my life sooo idk if that had something to do with it or what. But if you’re looking for something solid, that’s basically a bullet proof vest for your uterus lol and it lasts for like 12 years. No pills to remember.
