First pregnancy, when to make an appointment with the Doc?

I just found out that I'm pregnant with my first! I'm about 4 weeks. When is the best time make your first doctors appointment?

I'd go ahead and call an ob they will schedule you an appointment, even if you dont get in for a few weeks.

I went at 5 weeks 6 days and found out at 4 weeks 5 days. They did. Lois work, my weight, asked me some family history questions and gave me a big zip loc bag with papers and little parenting magazines and my hospital papers!!! :) I go back for my 2nd appointment on the 27th and I'm so excited!!!

You should call and make an appointment as soon as you can. You never know how busy your doctor is and how early you can get in and so the sooner you call the better. I didn't like my OB and so I had to wait for a month before my new doctor saw me. Although, I got to see her nurse sooner to get some useful information. Good luck!

There's not really anything they can do for you this early -- it's all your body giving its all at this point:) i'd spend some doing research on doctors or midwives in your area and educating yourself on birth options. It can be tricky to switch caregivers later in pregnancy, so researching what you want can prevent conflict later. My first appt isn't until 9.5 weeks, and it's just bloodwork and a consultation (I don't want more than 2 ultrasounds this pregnancy unless there is a medical reason). 
Take care of yourself, get some rest, and take those prenatal vitamins:)
