Is my cut infected?

It’s been a week since I cut myself at work and I did put on bandaids but it was hectic work (I helped open a new carters/oshkosh in tx) and the bandaids came off and so I just kept working without bandaids and I understand that’s bad but I had no other choice! 😔 I wanna know if it’s infected and what can I do about it?

No one can tell you if it’s infected by knowing nothing other than it’s a cut. Does it sting? Ooze? Have a ring? Put some antibacterial ointment on it with a bandaid. Give it time to heal.

Is it red oozing and warm to the touch? There’s no way to tell from that information alone

Honestly it doesn’t look infected, just really angry right now, but if you don’t take proper care of it now then it will get infected very easily. Neosporin (or the store brand is fine) continuously, and you have to have a cover (however many bandaids it takes) on it so the ointment doesn’t get wiped off. Bring a baggie if bandaids with you to work in case they start peeling off again. You will be allowed two minutes to re-bandage a gigantic cut like that.
Once it’s more healed shut and not really at risk of opening back up, plain white lotion like lubriderm can help the skin itself heal better and make it a lot less itchy.

Nurse here. Doesn't look infected to me. If it gets hot,oozing,smelly or if you get a fever then you need to be seen. But it looks like you've taken appropriate care of it. It will probably leave a nasty scar. Box cutter??

I wouldn’t like to say if it is or isn’t infected as I am no professional, but I think you should go and see a pharmacist about it just in case because it can get very nasty if it is infected.
