Time between feedings

Do I really need to be feeding my 3 month old every 2-3 hours during the day? Like if he seems content and happy do I need to disrupt that to feed him? Today he’s only feed 3 times. Once at 8am, 1pm and now 6 pm and will have one more before he goes to bed around 10. It just doesn’t seem like a lot to me...
