My pregnancy/delivery

Rachel

When I found out that I was pregnant in September 2015, I was floored. I have really bad endometriosis and it caused me to have a miscarriage in December 2013. My first trimester was full of very very bad all-day sickness. I could barely eat, brush my teeth, or even chew gum without throwing up. I had such hard convulsions that I was popping blood vessels in my eyes when I threw up.

The second trimester was great until I hit 26 weeks. I was rushed to the hospital for fear of premature labor from having SEVERE pains in my lower abdomen. Turns out that my daughter had gotten so big that she was putting pressure on scar tissue in my uterus from my two prior surgeries. She stayed on the scar tissue for the remainder of the pregnancy. As she got bigger, the pain got more intense. Not only was the pain almost unbearable, the nausea had returned and I broke my foot at work.

When it came time for my final two checkups, my OB confirmed that my daughter was feet down and I was being forced to do a caesarean because my doctor had gotten my due date wrong. My daughter turned on the way to the hospital and the doctor did not check again before cutting me. Ellie, my daughter, was lodged in my ribcage so a nurse had to get up on the delivery table and do chest compressions. This sent my body into a full-blown panic attack and I could not love on my daughter for fear of throwing up on her. The anesthesiologist wound up having to knock me out and I woke up in recovery.
