Does my man need a condom if I'm on the depo shot?

As a back up, sure. And if the two of you haven't got tested, I would recommend it. Or if it isn't exclusive. But if your in a monogamous relationship, I personally wouldn't. I only used condoms occasionally, mostly when I'm on or near my fertile days. Although, having another child wouldn't be to horrible for me. :) In a long term relationship and have both been tested together.  What does he think about it?

There will always be a chance of pregnancy, so if you want to have extra protection, have him wear a condom.
