So I've heard you can find out at 10 weeks what gender the baby is. My question is how does the test work to tell you? What do they do?

It's a blood test. I did mine between 10-12 weeks.

It's called either the panorama or harmony test and they basically take vials of blood and are able to test the baby's DNA which sloughs off into your bloodstream. I got mine done around 11 weeks and had the results back within the week. They test for various genetic abnormalities to include Down's syndrome and can also test the sex of the baby with 98% accuracy. They are fairly new and my insurance doesn't cover it yet but I only had to pay $130. I had the panorama and the company basically cuts you a deal if your insurance doesn't pay. If you don't have insurance it's like $800 😱 so make sure you ask your doctor's office about the costs beforehand.

At 12 weeks we had a special ultrasound called the Nuchal ultrasound where they check for chromosomal abnormalities such as down syndrome. Our technician that we had has been practicing for decades, so he says he can always tell right away. He blurted out the gender to us during the ultrasound and it has been confirmed three times since.

At 12 weeks you can get blood work drawn and they are able to tell from the DNA. That's what I did. I've heard nothing about 10 weeks
