milk or what else?

once your child hit age of 1 & doctor says to switch to milk what did you switch to? whole cows milk like they suggest? ... I want to know what's best to give my baby. Tia!

Answer

After breastmilk there is zero reason for anyone to be drinking milk. The only reason we do is because were used to putting it in cereal, smoothies etc. Lots of plant based milks on the market IF you want to include it in your child’s diet but as long as he’s getting nutrients from food milk isn’t necessary.

We gave our son Soy but he has an intolerance to soy so we have gone to Almond Milk and we make sure it has the vitamin B12 most alternative milks don’t have that and it’s essential. Without that their brains will atrophy (shrink) and they could die or have serious disabilities. We chose alternative milks because we’re vegan & there are no studies that prove babies or anyone needs to consume animal flesh or their products. & breast milk until age 4 (even if pumped into bottles or cups) is the best option if you can do that, otherwise whole cows milk is the most recommended because babies until age 4 need all the fat they can get in their diets.

Unless there's an allergy, we will do whole cows milk. I'm lactose intolerant so we also have soy or almond milk in the house if he ends up needing an alternative. My husband can't wait for the baby to be on regular milk...he wants someone to help him drink a gallon 😂

We chose whole cows milk simply because I have a nut allergy and we can’t do almond or cashew milk. We like Fairlife whole milk the most.

We give our son whole milk and 2%. We try to only give Grass milk (no grains) and we like the Maple Hill organic grass milk the most.

We’ll be switching to cow’s milk unless he has an allergy. My husband is 33 and still drinks whole cow’s milk. But he also grew up on a dairy farm, so he drank raw milk most of his life.
