How to safely shave down there?

I want to start shaving my pubes (for hygienic reasons) but I heard the skin is extremely sensitive and shaving it like you would shave your legs is a no no. Are there any tips for shaving my pubes for the first time?

Shaving is actually not any more hygienic than not shaving. Pubic hair protects against infection. Most gynecologists will actually recommend leaving some if not all hair there. But if you want to shave go for it. It's just not necessary to be hygienic. Don't use any lotions or soaps as that can mess with your pH balance and also cause infection. Just be very careful and don't cut yourself

I've been shaving it bald for 6 years now. I usually go against the hair. And I usually use sensitive skin shave cream. It gets really really soft.

Don't use a brand new razor on it or you'll get cut a lot and when shaving near the softer skin be extra careful.
