I want to get on birth control but don't which is the best for me . 
I'm 18yrs ,height 5'3 &' weight right about 160lbs .

My options

-Pill
-Patch
-injection

(I don't want to gain more weight than I already gain .)

I got the nexplanon implant about about a month ago and so far so good. I haven't gained any weight although I have been a little emotional than usual (I'm assuming my body is still getting adjusted). The implant is really nice because you get it inserted into your arm and can forget about it. It lasts up to three years and you can get it removed whenever you want. They numbed my arm for insertion so it was essentially painless. The only negative thing I can say about it is that I still have a little bit of bruising at the sight of insertion. Again, I only got the implant a month ago but I would highly recommend it.

Coming from an adults view trying to help you girls, in case you ever want kids in the next two years. Don't get the shot. Been ttc for over 1 1/2 years sence it. I mc with my first at 16 and was forced on it. Had two shots and now have had 6 miscarriages sence. The last 3 were 3 cycles in a row and now  6 months later I haven't been able to get pregnant at all. Do your research please before choosing. My favorite was the paragard. Mind you it hurt getting put in because they didn't numb my Cirvex. But that's all it hurt.and when I say hurt it was just more uncomfortable and awkward then pain. It uses copper, no hormones. The copper causes an acidic environment and instantly kills sperm. The only side effects are a slight copper smelling cirvical mucus.not strong enough to smell sitting their. If you think you are thinking of children in the next two years don't get the shot. Everyone if effected different but this is the commen side effect. Oh and loads of weight gain. I weighed 105 when I got it and 145 when the 6 months was up.cant loose weight either. Not having a period is nice but also people bleed the entire time on it. Don't get it. Iud when first released was going threw people's uterus. It has been remodeled and is safe now. The shot was ment to casturate men. Think on how that would effect a women. Iud, pills and barrier is your best bet. And if you want a cheap method, take your basil body temp with a basil thermometer. It tells you exactly when u ovulate. $6 at Walmart never have to buy one again. Just a thought.

Everyone will have different results with any type of birthcontrol. I've been on the pill for seven years and haven't had any side effects. It's helped me with my periods so much. However when my sister started the pill she gained weight and became very moody. Some of my friends have the nexplanon implant and love it, I plan to get it. You should really speak to your doctor about it and do some research.

I think any type of birth control can make you gain weight. I know for sure the pill & shot makes some people gain weight.
