How does your share custody work over the holidays??

Question

My SO never gets his son for much time over the holidays and it sucks. 
We don’t have him Christmas eve and on Christmas morning my SO has to drive to pick him up and we only get him for like two hours...(9-11am normally) maybe that including driving him back. I don’t see how it’s fair that she can have him in the morning and then all day in the afternoon... I feel like it should be rotating every year.. where he wakes up with us one year Christmas morning and we drop him off with her for the full afternoon and then the next year it switches. I’m curious to hear what some of your custody agreements are over the holidays!

We alternate and share. I get her every other thanksgiving and then Christmas afternoon/night. for the rest of her holiday. 
When he has her for thanksgiving I get her for Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, he picks her up at noon (or I do if it’s my turn to have her Christmas night)
Sounds confusing but it’s not really. She’s 8 now and we’ve been working well together since she was about 3.

Maybe it's just me but I believe the parents should try their best to do something a a whole family including other kids and ther halfs as a big family but that's not always possible but at the very least I think parents should share the time equally!

My step son lives far away from us so we take it in turns each year to have him with us on Christmas morning. Last year he stayed with us from December 22nd until the 29th and then went back to his mother, and this year he is staying with her for Christmas Day and we’ll have him from the 28th until the 4th. We do the same with all of the school holidays so it works out fairly for both sets of parents.

With my husbands older 2 we split holidays even tho she makes it an ordeal every year.. it’s been the same for 6 years running now..  we have them thanksgiving week or for the long weekend. She has them for Christmas in December. We have them for New Years. My husband is Serbian orthodox so we have them for Christmas in Jan for a couple days if it’s on the weekend because of their school.  
The rest of the holidays are pretty steady too. She has them for Memorial Day and Labor Day because her family has parties, we have them for 4th of July because we usually go to a huge party.

We alternate Christmas eve and Christmas morning.  This is our year for morning, so we pick her up at 8pm Christmas eve, and bring her to our house to sleep and wake up with us.  We take her back around noon.  When we have her Christmas eve, we get her around 4, and have to take her back at 8.  I thi k it's unfair, but it's not my fight.  
I would prefer to alternate complete Christmas, like we do for other holidays.
