I’m ready to share...
My birth story is one that will forever be burned into my brain. On November 14th(Wednesday)I scheduled to be induced. I went in that night and received Cervidil to soften things up for the morning. The next day I started pitocin. I had constant minor contractions all day. My doctor checked me and realized there was no change in my cervix all day. In comes the foley bulb Thursday night. Just in case anyone is curious, that crap hurt I about jumped off the bed. So finally comes Friday morning and they start back the pitocin and come to find out I had went from 1 centimeter on Thursday to 5 on Friday morning because of the foley. Great news so they broke my water. As the day went on I managed to dilate to 7cm and finally decided to get an epidural. I thought we were on a roll and getting close to meeting our sweet boy. They had to redo my epidural twice and I had to lay down because I almost passed out after the first try. I finally got comfortable after throwing up a few times from the epidural. Several hours went on and the doctor came back to check my progress. My cervix had become so swollen that it was closed back to a 5 and super irritated. With much sadness my doctor informed me that chances of delivering naturally were slim to none. We had to make the decision to go for a cesarean after much debate and speaking to the surgeon. Around 7:30 pm Friday night i was being wheeled into surgery. At 8:23pm on November 16th I gave birth to a beautiful 7.13 pound 21 inch long baby. My husband and I were overjoyed!
Finally on Monday afternoon we got to go home with Baby Owen. Looking back my c section was easy and I felt great the next day. After going home things took a turn for the worse. Exactly one week after giving birth I was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. Never did I see this coming. Being away from my son who I was exclusively breastfeeding was excruciating. My son was put into the care of my parents and had to be put on formula. I was being pumped with incredibly strong antibiotics and remained in the hospital for 4 days. Worst days of my life. Not only leaving my son but being so sick and bed ridden. Today is a good day. I have been home two days and making progress each day. Sorry my story is so long I had to put this into words to express what I have just been through as a new mom. Ladies, always expect the unexpected. I wish everybody well and I hope no one has to go through what i am. Thanks for reading!
