What age did your child potty train?

My husband is pushing me to potty train our daughter who's 19 months. He is saying because his mom potty trained them at 1 she's more that ready. I don't think she is. So I wanted to see what ages other people's kids were potty trained.

Never push a child that isn't ready to potty train. You don't want them having a bad experience with it and if she's not ready I suggest waiting a few more months. She may not even have the ability to control her bladder yet or able to easily pull her pants on and off.

We started my daughter off slow to get her interested and showed her how it all works at first. Tried a few times and it was a disaster. We backed off for a couple of months than tried again and she was ready.

I also recommend not using pull-ups. They feel like diapers and than they feel comfortable going in them. My daughter went commando while potty training and it's what worked best for her, but all kids are different.

We started training just before she was 2 and a half. She is now 3 and fully potty trained...thank goodness!

Dont rush it. She will tell you when she is ready. My son asks me to go to the potty. He's almost 3. I've tried earlier and it never worked so let your LO tell you when she's ready!!

People are always saying children aren't ready until a certain age or don't push your child to learn how to use the potty. Not everyone has that issue. My son is 22 months and has been using the potty since at least 18 months and stays dry through the night. So keep in mind that just because YOUR child isn't ready by a certain age, it doesn't mean that people are forcing their children to go sooner.

The age is not an indicator, because every child is different. I would look for these signs
1. Verbal communication or hand signs
2. Ability to dress/undress self
3. Ability to stay dry for more than 3/4hrs
4. At least some level of independence

Then read stories about the potty, casually talk about how our bodies work, take them to the bathroom with you, introduce a potty chair "just for fun" and after a few weeks or month have a potty party ( buy underwear, get treats, and stickers, and let them try it out!)

My daughter started at 16 months but it wasnt a big jump. I gave her a potty chair and she set on it when she wanted and tried to go when i did. Once she got the idea we moved it into the room that she was in so she didnt have to run to the bathroom and not get there in time.
She was potty trained by 2 and at 2 1/2 she wanted to try night time on her own so we let her. Again we brought out her old potty seat and kept it in her room. 
She never used it, preferred to get up and go to the bathroom. She did it all on her own.
She's 4 now :)

New is a great time to start trying to observe when she's going and learning her cues. Have a potty around. Let her know she can use it any time. Let her know she won't always need nappies, make positive comments about that future time. 
My DD demanded to potty train at 21 months ("Mummy, wee wee, potty. Now!") She was out of nappies 2 weeks.  My son refused to wear nappies from 20 months. He took 2 months to train.

my was 3 when he was officially going potty in the toilet on his own...
and he takes full credit for it because I was only training for a week at most. he got it all by himself.
I think he was just ready. he didn't want to use his pamper anymore. 
I think whenever you think they're ready or they start to show you "signs" that they're ready.

everyone seemed to make comments like "ges too big to be wearing diapers..." but what's the rush? just like they stop with  pacifier and bottle.. they'll get out of the diaper

I had a potty for all my children & they didn't use them once went straight to the toilet didn't want to use potty
