Newborn and everyone’s opinions lol

Is anyone willing to share literature on self soothing with me? I know I’ve read somewhere that babies don’t have the capability to self soothe until they are 6 months old. I have a newborn baby. He was premature at 36 weeks and he’s 2 weeks old so we haven’t even hit his full term gestation yet and my mom and husband keep coming at me because I don’t let him cry. I’ll let him fuss a little because sometimes he just needs to not be stimulated at all and he’ll fall asleep. I get fussy if I’m overly tired too lol. But if he’s actually crying he’s trying to tell me something. Either he’s hungry, needs changed or just wants held. He’s a REALLY laid back baby. He can fall asleep anywhere and isn’t necessarily dependent on me nursing him or holding him to do so. I happen to think he’s perfect 😉 but my mom is all like “its good for him to cry” and my husband at 5:00 this morning as I’m trying to get him back to sleep after his 4am feed started questioning if I was tending to his needs too much and I should just let him cry until he falls back to sleep. Needless to say that didn’t happen and I gave him the ULTIMATE stink eye as he gets a full 10 hours of sleep uninterrupted with zero responsibility 😂. He’s a newborn baby and if he’s crying I’m going to comfort him in any way I can. So I would love some sources I can send my husband and mom next time they try to question my motherly instincts 😂🙌🏼
