How much longer ?

At 36 weeks I was 1cm and 50% effaced. Had a few mild contractions all week. I went to my 37 week appointment thinking that this time delivery would be easier( second pregnancy). But no, still 1 cm and 50%. Nothing has changed. Baby hasn't dropped? Last time, I was in labor for 18 hours at the point where I was about to pass out. At 7 cm, I ended up getting a epidural and fell asleep until 10cm? I wish this time was different. Anyone have good ideas how I can possibly try to open up at home?
