Maternity underwear?

Ok so one of the many thing my mother in law is driving me nuts about is maternity underwear. What I want to know is what is the point are they more comfortable or are they just a gimmick and another of the many things pregnant women get suckered in to.

I got some back around 20 weeks because my belly was pulling my normal undies forward and I was constantly dealing with horrible wedgies :( I got a 3 pack from motherhood, and I am SO much more comfortable. I immediately bought two more packs. I couldn't imagine facing the rest of my pregnancy with a perma-wedgie.

I just use really soft Kirkland underwear from Costco (bikini style) and they have been really comfy still. I'm 29 weeks

I am 29 weeks with twins, I am measuring 40 weeks. My babies are LOW! And I wear regular undies!! Maternity undies are not necessary at all

They're actually really nice to have! 
I bought some from motherhood around 30 weeks with my son and theyre very comfy when youre getting closer to deliver and they're nice to have for post delivery because they're very stretchy.

I normally wear a stretchy cotton bikini underwear and I've simply sized up. The bikini cut is below the belly so it doesn't get in the way.

Love my Motherhood Maternity panties! The hipster and fold over are great. You can get them on their website, they ways have sales.

I just went up in sizes in underwear. However I found the higher the number the lea the selection :-( so briefs it is! Not the most attractive underwear around, however big enough to fit around my bump and comfy, plus they don't just roll down!  I haven't tried to look for maternity undies, but might give them a try!
