Counting the days down to AF.

I'm having a little trouble counting my ovulation my date because of not knowing what to count. When do you actually the day of AF flow ?? Do you count the day when you start cramping on the day AF comes or before you start to bleed or do you count ?? I just want to make sure I have the right ovulation date.
