When do midwife’s check dilation?

I see loads of American posters saying how much effaced they are and how much dilated etc but my midwife never checks. Might be because im only 34week tomorrow 🤷🏽‍♀️ but iv been having so much pelvic pressure and my Physiotherapist has said to me she thinks i may be more ready than i may think

We don’t get checked in the UK unless there’s an actual reason. I had to be checked 1-2 weeks ago because I was having tightenings every 5 minutes so they wanted to make sure it was nothing. It’s Probably not done without a serious reason because it can increase the risk of infection constantly been poked and prodded up there and sometimes how effaced or dilated you are has zero correlation to when you’ll actually go into active labour. For example you could technically be 1/2cm dilated now at 34 weeks but still not have your baby until you’re 40 weeks. It’s not necessary to have it checked as long as your fundal height, BP and urine is being checked at every midwife visit then that’s fine. And if you’re concerned in any way always go get it checked out at hospital, better to be safe than sorry 😘
