Due on the 14th, but he had other plans!
Well, to say the least, we were very surprised when my water broke on the 1st of December. I had started eating dates at 36 weeks as suggested by my Doula. At 37, I started practicing self expression as suggested by my doctor and the lactation nurse. All these things that are totally natural and in no way trying to seriously speed the process. Mind you, I had been super active the entire pregnancy to include keeping up my running pretty close to the end. Fast forward to the 1st, I had taken a long walk with my dog into our little downtown for about two hours. On our way home I had some good contractions but nothing consistent. Only two days prior I had told my doctor that the contractions were getting stronger but nothing worth timing. She wanted to see that I go into labor in the next week! That would make me 39 weeks at the end of next. So I get home from my walk, my Bf and I go get some groceries and I had some stronger contractions in the store that slowed me down a bit. We had a snack of cheese, crackers and apples when we got home. Fell asleep on the couch at 1830ish and I woke up at 2045 having to pee. My underwear were a bit wet and so I took my pants off, not really thinking when everything just kept pouring out! I called my Doula and told her what was happening, woke up my bf and told him I think my water broke and we had to go to the hospital! I'm GBS positive so I had to go right in. We get there and my water is still going everywhere!
My contractions started to pick up but I was only at 1cm. Fast forward 12 hours later, and epidural after 8 hours and pitocen (all which I didn't want and wasn't apart of my plan) but in the end, needed because I want progressing well and became delerious, double and triple contractions at only 3cm and extremely tired, that our baby boy was born at 1121 on December 2nd at 38 weeks and 2 days! He was 7lbs and 20 inches long. In the end I do not regret choosing those things even though I had worked so hard to make it all natural. My water broke first which was my worry and knew it might change my plans.
