Coconut oil for diaper rash?

Hey everyone, my baby is 5 1/2 months old and has started to get teeth. He has had diarrhea on and off for about a week and has the worst rash on his bum. I've tried all the different bum creams and just using Vaseline. I also just lay him in a towel to air him out. Nothing has worked. Just wondering has anyone used coconut oil on their babies bums to help treat a rash, if not any good cream suggestions?

I've never used coconut oil but I know for a fact corn starch works wonderfully! You'll see a drastic improvement in a couple hours. You want to stop putting the wet stuff on a wet rash because it'll just keep it moist. Think of it like a cut. You put poly on it an a band aid during the day and then you air it out at night and it starts to heal over, a diaper rash can't do that cuz it's constantly covered in a wet environment, so using a powder to pull the moisture away from the skin like corn starch does will help it heal faster. My son when he started teeth in got such bad rashes they'd bleed. And he'd be perfectly fine one diaper change and 3 hours later he'd have a bleeding rash so I had to get it under control fast.

We cloth diaper and used coconut oil every time. It usually took care of any rash. :)

I plan to use coconut oil, I use it when my eczema or psoriasis flares up and it's gone within days!

1 tube of desitin 1 tube of a&d ointment I tbsp of triple antibiotic and 1 tblsp of mylanta mix it all together and use it like you would frosting a cake.   A ton of it! Use it every diaper change. 
If that doesn't work maybe see if it's a yeast infection. They are red and raised and sometimes have bumps for that use an athletes foot cream 2x per day.

With my little girl the only thing that got rid of her diaper rash was coconut oil. I was very adamant about putting a&d on her at every diaper change, she had diaper rash maybe 3 times and all three coconut oil helped by the next day!

I'm gonna use coconut oil.  My last one I used both penetans.  There is one to prevent diaper rash and there is one treat it.  I'm also gonna try to make baby wipes out of coconut oil.  I love homemade wipes :)

I know that A&D oitment works pretty well, have you tried that? I as well as many others that I know, swear by coconut oil! It's amazing, however I'm not sure how well it would work for diaper rash. Since it's all natural I'd say go ahead and give it a try, it can't hurt. If all else fails, try talking to your baby's pediatrician to see what he/she may suggest. Good luck!

You need something that provides a moisture barrier while allowing air through. Green People, and other brands that are organic and hypoallergenic are good. I'll check with me friends later, her son has a bowel condition that means he should have terrible nappy rash but whatever they use has prevented it!

Most puerile make the mistake of using lots. It's actually best to apply a thin layer, 3-5 per day .
