Anyone obese escape gd?

I'm a pretty big girl, mainly from over eating, ironically I don't drink anything but water- I hate soda and juice and I never really drank alcohol either...I'm taking my gestational diabetes test soon and I am SO scared that I'll have it...: have any of you obese women gotten thru pregnancy without ever getting it?

It actually has nothing to do with your weight. It has to do with how your body is processing sugars during your pregnancy. It can actually strike any pregnancy, and occurs when the pancreas fails to produce enough insulin to regulate blood sugar efficiently. I'm technically obese based on BMI, pre pregnancy I was about 210 lbs and I'm around 230 now, 5'6" and very muscular. Anyway....I did fine on my glucose test! And I have a sweet tooth for dessert.

I haven't taken my 2nd trimester test yet. But I don't have it. I'm 5'3, 240'ish lbs. 27w today.  My mom had it, so they are just making sure.

I actually drink aloooot of soda.. but Ive always done great with my blood sugar. This is our 4th pregnancy. I don't think weight has much to do with it tbh.

I have a friend who does not have it. Your health and weight don't really play a part in gd, it can in type 2 though. It was the best thing that happened to me. It helped me watch what I was putting in my body and kept me healthier once baby was born. It shouldn't be scary, it's really not that big of a deal, just in my experience.

I'm considerably bigger than most and I passed my 1hr test easily. My dr wanted me to see the nutritionist and also had me do a nutrition class. ALL of the women in the class I went to had diagnosed GD and were all normal sized to slightly overweight. Weight truly has nothing to do with it.

I've given birth to 3 beautiful children - 2 of which I was over 200lbs and never had GD. It is possible.

GD is generally determined by your placenta. However, personal history or family history of diabetes and being overweight can increase your risk. This is not a guarentee though and no one should presume you will get it or have it.  However, do be aware of your personal risk and try to monitor your sugar and carb intake.

I went ahead and bought a diabetes testing kit and check my sugar every morning. I found that milk spikes me like crazy so I've cut it out as much as possible. I've passed all my tests but I'm continuing to monitor.

Actually having my daily sugar levels has helped a lot of the shaming conversations some docs brought up. One of them was telling me that 68% size was concerning and started grilling me on GD. I was able to tell him that I was monitoring my numbers and they were all normal. Shut that right down. My PA agreed that they were overreacting.
