Boy probs

So.... I’ve liked this boy for almost a year and as each day goes by I seem to like him more and more. He’s the whole package to me. Nerdy, funny, handsome/cute, a gentleman. Ive never had a 100% full conversation with him. Just small talk here and there. My friends push me to talk to him but I’m very scared to. He’s pretty popular and well I’m not. I’m scared he will think of me as a freak or something like that. So many people keep telling me to go for it and that we would make good but I think they just say that to say it not because it’s true. I don’t know what to do!
