Weight gain, pregnancy & medication
So I’m 2 months pregnant as of today. Before I fell pregnant I was extremely sedentary because I am chronically ill with brittle asthma (can’t even get through a shower or getting changed without taking breaks).
Since finding out I am pregnant, I’ve cut down on junk food and started walking a bit (within my capabilities). I’ve also cut down drastically on medications (eg. my antidepressants, some steroids for my asthma). But since this change I’ve just gained 5kg in the 2 months.
My mother came up to me earlier and said ‘you’re getting fat, big in the middle and you wouldn’t be popping yet. You need to stop eating s*** and start working out again.’
I understand where she’s coming from, I know I’ve gained weight. But it’s so hard for me to control weight healthily. I suffered from an eating disorder for 6 years (12yrs old to 18yrs old) and I still can’t appropriately control myself in diet and exercise. But I feel so trash being told by my own mother that I’m getting fat.
I honestly don’t know what to do. I don’t have the money to see a dietician or personal trainer. And I don’t have my first appointment with my midwife & OB for an entire month (despite being categorised as high-risk.)
Not sure how to approach this now..
