Contraception while on carbamazepine?

Question

I've read that the morning after pill isn't effective on epilepsy pills because it breaks them down too quickly and stuff. 
I've made the huge mistake of having unprotected sex for my first time, he did pull out but I just want to make sure. I've read even some of the morning after pills that do work for some woman on the same medication on, isn't really that reliable. So I'm asking, what morning pill did you use and did it work?

I've been on the Tegretol (the brand) for 13 years.  To give you an idea of my dosage I take 500 mg AM and 400 mg PM. I weigh 190 lbs.

At one point I was on bc pills and didn't get pregnant even though I had sex regularly. Back then I was on normal Tegretol. Since plan b is really just high dose bc pills that should give you some idea.

Now I take the extended release of the same dose. For bc I use FAM and condoms. When a condom breaks or slips when I am ovulating, I take plan b. This happens about twice a year. Still not pregnant.

Also if you do find out that you are pregnant get to your doctor (obgyn and md who prescribes your Tegretol) right away because it's really bad for the baby (if you want to keep it).

Unfortunately FAM is the on feasible bc method for me since I have bipolar and a few other issues. Definitely talk with your lady doc at your next visit regardless. Part of being on bad for baby meds like Tegretol means having a plan in place, even if that plan is abortion. Unfortunately a lot of lady docs don't really know about Tegretol.

I took plan B while on Keppra for seizures. It worked fine for me.
