I’m unsure, I never do but my husband would literally never eat until dinner at home if he couldn’t do it while driving. He even heats his food up on the dashboard vent in the winter 😬

I live in Oregon and I know distracted driving is illegal, but I’ve never known anyone to get pulled over or ticketed for eating/drinking. Plus I do it all the time, even near cops, so I’m gonna assume it’s not that bad.

I just looked it up for Indiana. It is considered distracted driving, so technically a ticket could probably be issued for it, but I highly doubt any have. As it says here, talking to the passenger or changing the radio station also falls under this category though. Also, last I heard, talking on the phone is not against the law here unless you are under the age of 21, even though that too falls under distracted driving.

So I don't think it is illegal, it's just unsafe. Something to keep in mind though, if you do any of the things on this list and get into a car accident, it is automatically your fault. Even if it was totally the other person's fault, if there is proof of you doing any of these things, they can put the blame on you.
