Be petty?

Do I be petty and reply with k or do I just ignore it and just move on. How should I respond back?

He does this to me quit a bit and I’m just getting annoyed. I’ve expressed to him before that I’m getting annoyed with whatever is happening with him and his lack of communication with me. Whenever he has a bad day he just closes off on me. But yet he expects me to ask him to talk but when I do he just says “ it’s hard to explain” ?
