Thoughts on polyandry (many husbands, one wife)?

AJ

Piggy backing off of another post about polygyny, where it seems most everybody commented they wouldn’t be able to be in a relationship where the man has many wives. I think the question of polyandry might be more interesting to debate.

That is, a woman having multiple husbands. How would you feel about having this sort of arrangement? Do you see any advantages/disadvantages to this? What good/harm could come from having many husbands? Would you be able to be in this type of relationship?

Also I want to add that polygamy in this form is a real thing and does happen in some small scale societies, however the polygamy of one man, many women is a much more common form of polygamy. One example is where there are fewer females in a society and a group of men (usually brothers) will share one woman and if/when she has children, they all take up the responsibility to raise the child as if it’s their own and that child ends up having multiple father figures. The idea is that there’s always at least one man there to provide paternal care to the child while the other men are out hunting for food, or what have you, and they take turns staying behind to care for the child.
