I was given the option for expectant management of my ectopic pregnancy and went ahead with it.

I bled for something like six weeks (pretty tough!) and was given codeine for the pain but was lucky not to experience a rupture. Things seemed to resolve on their own.

I’ve now got my first period, about five weeks after my HCG went down to 0, and it is extremely heavy and painful – much more so than is usual for me. Anyone else experience this? And did your periods then return to normal? How long did it then take to conceive?

Keen to understand what to expect! I seem to be in the minority of women who are offered expectant management. I’m based in the UK – perhaps it’s more common there than in the US?
