Anyone Have Nipple Piercings & Breastfeed?

Anyone have nipple piercings and that breastfeed. Does your milk come out in rush, steady flow, doesn’t come out at all due to the piercings?

My aunt who im close with tried breast feeding with her nipples pierced and had a lot of issues and ended up taking them out after she had her son and wishes she did sooner. I took mine out at 18 weeks so they would close up all the way hopefully cause I know people that had a lot of extra milk due to the holes and it was too much for their baby, also because I had mine 2 years and they never fully healed and I’d rather not chance getting any infection or bacteria to my baby from them not being healed.

With my 1st I only had them for almost a yr. Due to them not being healed all the way I decided to take them out because I wanted my breast to be as sterile and bacteria free. Now with my 2nd on the way (I got them repierced had them for almost 3 yrs) I decided to do the same take them out just because of bacteria I rather be safe than sorry. But with my 1st I had perfect flow. The reason I had too much milk in 1 breast is because I didn't listen to the nurse about switching boobs when it was time for feedings. My son latched on perfect to my right breast had difficulties on the left but I was me not him lol so I quickly found out that blocked ducts are not fun and they hurt like hell. But all in all I say take them out. Get them repierced after baby is done breastfeeding.

Had mine done years ago, at least 5-7 years ago. I took the rings out a couple of years after having them done. I knew there was a chance the piercing could close. Well ... mine never did. My milk came in a couples of days late but I don’t attribute that to the piercing, rather than not stimulating the breast with suckling from my baby as often as I should have. When my milk came it wasn’t rushing out of the spot of the piercing when breastfeeding or pumping. The engorgement in the beginning just created a lot of pressure that rushed out of the tip. I still clean my piercing by squeezing the sides of my nipples every couple of days in the shower to remove lingering oils/milk, as I still comfort nurse my 18 month old.

I took my nipple ring out about two years ago and the hole never fully healed. My baby is now about 5 weeks old and has no problem eating off that side. I did notice that while I was pumping, milk comes out of the holes. It doesn't seem to pour out or anything unusual and the flow from the other areas of the nipple seems normal.

I chose not too breastfeed only one of my breast every really produced milk the other I had had a lot of problems with and some tearing so it just never really came through was easier to formula feed. Really personal choice.
