If they share finances, then to a certain degree, yes. 
Having to ask to spend $5 would be overkill, but you should discuss and agree on anything over a certain amount because it’s both of your guys money

Yes big purchases of course. I wouldn’t want my husband spending $500 on something and then me finding out after the fact and he wouldn’t want me to either. In a marriage you have to talk about It and make these decisions together.

I’d say yes with anything over $100.
If he wants to get himself some clothes or snacks or little things he likes, go for it!
But if it’s a big purchase, I’d just like to know before he commits. 
I’m a bargain shopper, so I could probably help him find a better price on bigger things! 😅

We have a joint bank account for most of our money that goes to bills and groceries and then we each have separate personal accounts that we have an automatic transfer from the main account, like an allowance, each pay period and can spend that on whatever we want. It was an adjustment merging our finances at first and he's more the penny pincher than I am so there's the occasional friction, but otherwise we have a solid financial setup that works for both of us.

Me and my husband share the same account, and have since we were dating. If we’re both working and we know money is good then we’ll only discuss money matters over like $50, if it’s not something necessary

Only if bills wouldnt get paid due to spending that $ but knock on wood, neither of us would do that..   i dont ask to spend my hard earned money. What I do ask is an opinion like hey do you like this couch
