Are you exclusively pumping? Is this from one breast? How much is baby eating at a time? Are you going back to work and needing milk to have saved up for daycare? There’s many factors that determine what kind of breastfeeding/pumping journey will be best for you but there isn’t really a “normal” here.

That’s really a lot for one week. A one week old baby definitely doesn’t eat that much in one feed. I would talk to a lactation specialist and get some feedback to be sure you don’t end up with blocked ducts and/or mastitis. I got mastitis from pumping too much too soon and it was the worst experience of my life. I never got my supply fully back on one side and struggled so much.

Normal for me. I was pumping 12oz out of each breast every 2 hours or so. I have to work closely with a lactation consultant to regulate my supply because it goes off the charts if I dont watch it carefully. The good side of that is that I donated A LOT of milk to mommas that needed it!

It was normal for me when I was exclusively pumping because my baby was too little to nurse (9wks premature) I would get like 9-12oz every3 hours

I exclusively pump and starting to wean myself now that my son is 9 mon. Does she seem full after 2 oz? You could always try a little more see if it keeps her full little longer. Don’t worry about oversupply. Just freeze what you don’t use. I always tried to keep a couple bottles in fridge ready to use for the night time of i didn’t pump and have some ready for my son. I have a deep freezer full and enough to last till he’s at least one if i stopped pumping cold turkey right now. I did supplement with little formula the first week while my milk fully came in and able to get a bottle or two ahead of what he was eating.
