Driving with a new born in the back???

Hi Mommies! 
I’m not a FTM but this is the first time I’m driving with a newborn in the back. I haven’t been able to drive with him alone because I’m scared and I don’t know what I would do if he starts crying. Do I pull over? Do I let him cry? Will his crying distract me? 
Do any of you have tips? Or would like to share your story on how you did it? I really want to go out with just my baby but I can’t get over the idea of something going wrong. Please help 😭

If you’re lucky, the car ride will keep them calm. The only time mine ever really cried was if we weren’t driving.

Mine hated the car the first 3 months of his life. We had to go places so we had to deal with it. We just let him cry. If one of us sat back there he only got worse because he expected us to hold him if he saw us. It was a little distracting and not fun but he got over it eventually.

I put baby in the middle of the back seat since we had a bench seat and usually the car would keep them asleep- especially because I would try to leave right after feeding and changing him so he’d usually be ready to sleep- but if not I’d just try to pop a pacifier in at a red-light, shush them, etc and get where I was going safely.

I’m a FTM as well but my kiddo loves this fox that rattles. I put it on the mirror and she is super distracted by it. When she does cry it’s when the car has been stopped for a while, just gotta keep going and turn the music up a bit. Babies will cry, it sucks, but it’s not forever. 😊

You're very much overthinking this. I never thought twice about driving alone with our daughter. We've always had a mirror in the back seat so I can see her and check on her from the front. Diapers were changed prior to leaving the house and she was fed about 30 minutes prior to leaving as well. She's always given toys or something to keep her occupied. As a newborn, she just slept. As many newborns do all day. She's now 18 months and there have only been two times in her life where I've had to pull over to check on her. It isn't rocket science to me. If she needs me, I pull over. If she's just fussing and we're almost to our destination, I keep driving. Very simple.

I’m pregnant with my fourth and honestly what I’ve realized is that, unless it’s a long trip, your better off to keep driving. By the time you pull over and get him/her out of the car and calmed down to put back into the car seat just to likely cry again, you could be at your destination. The only time I stop now is if it’s a long trip, or if they throw up (happened once coming back from the dr bc of a stomach bug 😔).

My daughter loved car rides but if she ever was fussy I would talk to her. Also I tried to plan my leaving time for right after she ate.

We go out all the time alone. He loves riding in the car and will usually sleep the entire time we’re out unless we go somewhere we’re not moving (doctor, restaurant). He also loves music so I turn the radio up and will sing so he hears my voice. He’s never cried on me for more than 15 minutes and he was hungry. 
You can’t just stop on the side of the interstate because your baby is crying and you cant stop your life because you’re afraid of them crying.
