Further along than they think...?

Hey! Is there any way to know how far along you are before seeing the doctor? I found out two weeks before my missed period, but was told most people don't find out til 4wks.... That obviously wasn't the case.

My sister in law found out at her first on apt that she was a month further along than she initially thought. Her cycle was really weird and she had a light period so she though she got pregnant after that period..... Nope she was actually pregnant before that and happend to have a light period during

I know that. But my last period was really light so I'm wondering if I'm further along.... Hence the question...

Calculating by the first day of your last period I'd stupid because it then adds seven days for your period ( some woman bleed more our less than that ) and then sets conception day shortly after that. 
So glad I know my conception day.if I didn't the sure date calculator works b out me almost a week behind what I really am
