Stopping breastfeeding for personal reasons?

I’m happy and lucky that I’ve been able to EBF my daughter for 5.5 months but the weight gain, giant boobs, and exhaustion that has come with it is weighing on me. I’m looking into stopping breastfeeding and going to formula soon. Am I crazy? Am I a selfish mom? Please tell me if you’ve had these thoughts about breastfeeding or if it’s just the past few sleepless nights that are getting to me...

Not. At. All!!! I’m not gonna lie, when I was trying to EBF I fell into to the “samples.” You know.. the ones you get in the mail.. I was tired and couldn’t handle it.. so I gave it to her.. and girl, I slept!! Now I just supplement. And yeah I felt guilty.. but it was mostly because of myself and other people! I thought “I’m a terrible mom” or when people asked me if I breastfeed they would judge me for saying “mostly” but Moms health is just as important as babies!! You need your sanity like that baby needs a full boob!! Also, most people will not judge you for it!! You think they will, but they won’t!! They don’t give a fuck!!

I breastfed for a yr and 4 months. But I don’t think you’re being selfish at all. It can be hard on us moms and trust me I wanted to give up so much! But either way as long as your baby is fed and healthy that’s really all that matters 🙂

I was struggling very hard for months and after 5 month decided to formula feed and it was so much better for my mental health !! a healthy mom is a lot better than a depressed and stressed momma

It is important to do whatever works best for you :) if you feel it is time to stop it's okay. You shouldn't feel guilty. You still gave your little one some benefits of breastfeeding for the time you did! It's okay to do what you feel is best for your situation. No need to feel guilt about that
