Puppy regret :'(

My BF and I just picked up our new puppy, a 10 week old golden, on Friday. We already had a 1.5 year old cat.

Until puppy is completely housebroken, we're not letting her into the completely carpeted bedroom half of the apartment. We have a baby gate up so the cat can still go throughout the entire apartment but the dog can't.

I love my cat so much and she literally didn't eat or go to the bathroom for 24 hours after bringing puppy home. We had to move all of her stuff into our closet because she doesn't leave the bedroom. She now refuses to go to her favorite spots in the living room because of the puppy. They've had no scary interaction and cat is still bigger than the puppy.

I just hate myself for putting my cat through this :( and honestly, despite telling him I'm overwhelmed, I hate that my BF isn't helping nearly as much as he initially said he would. It's just so much work and I don't know why I did this :(

Edit: we just picked the puppy up on Friday this is only day 4!
