My Birth Story

A month late but I would love to share my birth story with everyone..

On November 8th I had scheduled a 9:30 AM appointment for the doctors, being already 39 weeks, I needed to go for my usual one week checkup along with an ultrasound to see how my lovebug was doing. When the ultra sound tech checked his monitor I noticed that he was acting somewhat weird with me. Giving me no information at all about the baby, shortly after he sent me to see my doctor. I waited in the doctors office for quite some time, finally when the doctor came in to see me he didn’t have the greatest news to tell me. To my surprise the amniotic fluid was too low and I was told I had to go to the hospital IMMEDIATELY.

At around 11:15 AM I was checked in to Foothill Presbyterian hospital in Glendora. A nurse greeted my boyfriend and I, then we were taken to a small room where they hooked me up to monitors constantly checking the baby’s movement and heartbeat. As I sat in the room for about an hour with my boyfriend, 2 ultrasound techs finally came in to check the amniotic fluid and get more of an accurate reading. Unfortunately they weren’t able to disclose any information that was presented to them on they’re screen until the doctor allowed it. A very kind nurse finally came into the room and told us that I wasn’t able to leave and they might have to induce me once my doctor came to see me. Our day went from 0-100 real fast.

At around 4 PM, my doctor finally arrived to the hospital to explain why it is he wanted to induce me. After talking over some other options we would be able to take he decided to check if I was at least dilated yet. Which to my surprise I had not dilated at all since my last checkup. However, not only was I not dilated, my sweet boy hadn’t dropped, as well as a prior problem my doctor told me about was that my pelvis was too small. He explained that if we even tried to go through with a natural birth that the baby would more than likely get stuck and they would have to rush me to an emergency c-section and if we tried to do the induction then the cord might come crashing down which would cause my cervix to rupture and more than likely we would lose our baby. I was terrified by what he just told me, how could this be happening?

About an hour later the doctor decided to come to the conclusion that they should keep me overnight and see if possibly the fluid would pick back up by the next day. This option put me more at ease

Fast forward to the next morning at around 9:30 my fluids were checked once again and to my surprise they decreased significantly. The doctor arrived at the hospital around 11 AM where we were left with the only safe option to have a cesarean that very day. The one thing I was most terrified of during my pregnancy was having to have this surgery done. But all that mattered was that we do what’s best for the baby. It was decided that the surgery be scheduled immediately.

They wheeled me out of my room at around 2 PM, as so many thoughts filled my mind all I could tell myself was that the surgery would go as planned and in about an hour I would finally meet my son. This was the most overwhelming yet exciting moment of my entire life

{minutes before they wheeled me into the OR}

At 2:30 the procedure was scheduled and let me tell you, I’ve never seen so many doctors and nurses in one room before. It was the most terrifying feeling but all I could think was that it would be over soon and I would finally be able to meet my baby boy.

And sure enough I heard my baby cry for the first time and everything I was worried about earlier didn’t even matter anymore. My dream had finally come true👶🏻✨

On November 9th at 3:02 PM my dream baby was born into this world weighing at 6 lbs 2 oz 18 inches long

Aside from everything I went through within those 2 days, I would relive this day over and over again if I could. The love I have for my son is endless and gives me a new meaning to what life is about. I am so blessed with the most perfect little family👪
