Hcg testing....

So I took a test 8 days after the last day of ovulation, it at first said negative, so I threw it away. I went back to look at it again and it had a faint pink positive line on it. My best friend found out with her third daughter that she was pregnant the same way. Well I discarded the test, took another test it said negative. Could the first test be positive? Or is it wrong? I know that if the line was grey it would be a false positive but it wasn't grey it was pink... I'm confused. My period is suppose to be here tomorrow but have no signs of my period coming. I didn't with my son either.
