How do you feel about the name of these behavioral tickets? (Read description)

So I saw this on fb and a mom was saying that her son struggles with ADHD. The teacher sends home these tickets called “I matter” tickets. This particular kid did not get any because of his behavior, and came home upset. He was upset because these tickets make him feel like he didn’t matter. Do you think the name of this is sending a bad message to the kids that don’t do well or is it totally fine?

So if my kid earned 0 “i matters” does that mean he doesn’t matter?

As a teacher, if you are going to tell a parent something negative about their child you must follow it up with TWO positive things!!! I was in preschool so an example would be.... Jimmy doesn't like to sit for circle time, but he loves doing puzzles off to the side or helping the other teacher clean up. Every child has something special. Don't make them feel bad because they don't fit into your box!

I think the tickets in general are a good idea. Like sending them home showing the parents how the child has been that week, what he/she needs to work on, etc. So they are able to keep parents updated on everything going on at school.. 
but I don’t like that it’s called “I matter” tickets. Like do children who have had bad behavior that week not matter? 😬 Definitely sends the wrong message out.

This concept needs work on:
✔️The naming of it. “I matter” is a terrible name for it and doesn’t even connect to what’s being the points being made in the rest of it 
✔️considering how disabilities may effect behavior
✔️execution overall

Even if they changed the name I think these are stupid. I can see sending out little certificates every semester or something, but weekly is fucking ridiculous and damaging no matter what you call them. Kids have bad days, just like adults and I think adults forget that more often than not. If they're going to keep them, then yeah, a name change is definitely in order. I'd raise hell if my baby came home in tears because she had a shitty week and that means she doesn't matter, gtfo.

The concept is fine, but the wording is horrible. My daughters class does something very similar, but they just call them “Spike tickets” after their mascot. They get them from any teacher at school when they exhibit great behavior, kindness, and going above and beyond. Once they get a certain amount they get prizes and incentives.

My school had a ticket thing but with colors. At the end of the day you would fill out with crayons.rainbow,green,yellow,red, or gold.
Rainbow=no mishaps,yes they make rainbow crayons.
Green=1 problem
Yellow=2 problems
Red= 3 problems or more
Gold:did something good or was extremely nice(ex:helping someone help,comforting someone crying) you would get a gold star on the paper and a written note saying what you did.

Bad name, but this is no different than what my kids kindergarten class does. Everyone starts the day on the color green, if you get good behavior points you move up in color to blue, purple or pink. If you get bad behavior points, you get moved down to yellow, orange or red.  Kids that get a pink per week get a toy on Friday.

I took this as a way of saying we are all members of this class, my behavior matters, I matter when it comes to the class succeeding. if I was part of the problem in the class that week I didn’t contribute to the success of the class and I didn’t matter. I didn’t contribute positively to the class. Could it be worded differently? Sure. I do think a kid with ADHD is going to be at a disadvantage because they may unintentionally be more of a distraction to the class and not be rewarded, so maybe the scale should be different in that situation, like they only interrupted the class once instead of 5 times that day would get recognition.
